IN-OFFICE PROCEDURES

Women's Health Care Associates offers a variety of in-office procedures, allowing patients to undergo procedures in the comfort of our office. If needed, an experienced anesthesia provider will administer IV sedation to help you remain comfortable throughout the procedure.

Our in-office procedures include:

  • Colposcopy

    • Using an instrument called a colposcope, our female providers are able to see a magnified view of the cervix and the vaginal wall. This allows us to evaluate the cervix in the setting of an abnormal pap smear.

  • Loop electrosurgical excision procedure (LEEP)

    • This procedure is done to remove precancerous tissue from the cervix

  • Diagnostic and operative hysteroscopy

    • Using an instrument called a hysteroscope, a thin tube with a light source, we can look inside the uterus for fibroids, polyps, or foreign bodies. These can be removed at the same time if necessary.

  • Surgical management of miscarriage

    • Non-viable pregnancy tissue can be removed with suction.

  • Endometrial ablation (NovaSure®) to treat heavy periods

    • NovaSure if a one-time procedure that is hormone-free and medication-free and only takes about five minutes to perform.

  • Intrauterine device (IUD) and contraceptive implant insertion

    • An IUD is a long-acting contraceptive placed inside the uterus and a contraceptive implant is a small rod placed under the skin in the upper arm.

Many of these procedures have historically been done in the operating room of a hospital. However, with the proper expertise and equipment, we are able to give our patients a much better experience in the office.

By having your procedure done in the office instead of the hospital, we can decrease the amount of time required and provide a more comfortable experience for patients and their families.
