GYNECOLOGIC SURGERY

Women's Health Care Associates offers a wide variety of surgical procedures performed in a hospital setting. Our female OB/GYN physicians are all trained in a variety of major and minor gynecologic surgeries, including a variety of minimally-invasive techniques.

Our gynecologic surgery offerings include:

  • Surgical management of ovarian cysts

    • Typically we use small laparoscopic incisions to remove certain types of ovarian cysts that may be on one or both ovaries.

  • Surgical management of uterine fibroids

    • Fibroids are benign growths in the uterus that can cause problems depending on their size and location. We can use different surgical techniques to remove fibroids, either through the abdomen or through the uterus.

  • Laparoscopic sterilization

    • Using a laparoscope, a small camera that goes inside the abdomen, we can remove fallopian tubes to permanently prevent pregnancy through small incisions.

  • Dilation and curettage (D&C)

    • This procedure involves opening up the cervix and sampling the uterine lining to help diagnose and treat abnormal bleeding. It can also be used in the surgical management of a "missed miscarriage."

  • Vaginal hysterectomy

    • Removing the uterus through the vagina with no abdominal incisions. The original minimally-invasive hysterectomy!

  • Laparoscopic hysterectomy

    • Removing the uterus with small incisions in the abdomen. We use a small camera and small instruments to perform the surgery.

  • Abdominal hysterectomy

    • Using an abdominal incision (similar to a Cesarean section incision) to remove the uterus. Usually reserved for cases with a very enlarged uterus due to fibroids, etc.

  • Diagnostic and operative hysteroscopy

    • Using a camera inside the uterus to visualize any abnormalities and remove polyps or fibroids if needed.

  • Diagnostic and operative laparoscopy

    • Utilizing a small, thin camera, we can look inside the pelvis with small incisions in the abdomen. If needed, we can perform a variety of procedures on the uterus, tubes and/or ovaries.

We perform these procedures at Littleton Adventist Hospital and Sky Ridge Medical Center.
